SHOULD I CHANGE MY SECOND MAJOR FROM ENGLISH TO MUSIC AND LIKELY END UP BEING A SUPER DUPER SENIOR??? I'M RATHER CONFLICTED. I DON'T REALLY SEE HOW I WOULD BE ABLE TO COMPLETE A MUSIC MAJOR AND ALL MY SPECIAL ED REQUIREMENTS IN THE FOUR YEARS + 1 GRAD SCHOOL YEAR, ESPECIALLY SEEING AS I START OBSERVATIONS/STUDENT TEACHING VERY SOON. I'D PROBABLY HAVE TO PAUSE ON SPECIAL ED TO CATCH UP ON MUSIC. WHICH WOULD MEAN I'D BE HERE FOR A TOTAL OF 6 YEARS. ON THE OTHER HAND, I COULD PROBABLY THEN AT LEAST GET AN ENGLISH MINOR, BECAUSE I ACTUALLY ONLY NEED LIKE 2 MORE CLASSES TO ACHIEVE THAT LOLOL.

OR, SHOULD I JUST BE A NORMAL PERSON AND STAY IN ENGLISH. OR I COULD BE REALLY CRAZY AND JUST DO MUSIC ED. AHHH WHY AM I A SOPHOMORE ALREADY I FEEL LIKE I'M RUNNING OUT OF TIME.

I'M ALSO ANXIOUS CAUSE I HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO AND INSTEAD I'M JUST THINKING ABOUT MY FUTURE COLLEGE CAREER. BUT I REALLY SHOULD BE FOCUSED ON, YA KNOW, PASSING THIS SEMESTER.

GAH. AND I HAVE PHONATHON TONIGHT..... I DID GET MY FIRST CREDIT CARD PLEDGE LAST NIGHT THO. AND I CALLED MY HS GUIDANCE COUNSELOR, MR. PANTALE, BUT HE DIDN'T ANSWER. HAHAHA.

PEACE.

I've officially had all my classes once now. I actually quite like all of my professors, as of now anyway. We'll see what happens. I had Approaches to Literature today, and after going over the syllabus we analyzed two poems. It was surprisingly tolerable! =P For whatever reason, English class is a lot less painful in a college environment than in a high school environment... Well, maybe I was just scarred by poetry because the last time I studied it in depth was junior year of high school, which... yeah. That was pretty much the worst English class of my life. Thanks, G-flo! I might have picked English as a major earlier if you hadn't temporarily destroyed the subject for me. But, to be fair to any teachers I might have had, I think I get more out of class now that I'm not an awkward, way too self conscious angsty teenager who doesn't want to participate. I mean, I'm still awkward, but not quite as much. XD

I also defied all expectations and landed an on-campus job. Granted, it's basically glorified telemarketing, but hey. It's something! My mother was so surprised to hear I actually got a job. I guess I don't blame her for the low expectations; I have a pretty pitiful track record in this area. Still, it was a combination of "Ha! Showed you!" and "Wow, I guess I really was a huge failure for years. Thanks." However, I did drop concert band partly because of this job. I feel like I should feel worse, because I've been such a band geek for so many years, but I really don't feel that bad. OOPS. It's just really easy to forget about practicing and such when you're not taking lessons anymore. I dunno. I guess once I got to college I realized that it was all kind of pointless cause I'm not a music major. I do expect to take band again at some point but I'm not sure when that'll be. Unfortunately, I feel like my poor flute will be quite abandoned this semester... again. WAH.

WEDDING SATURDAY!! I'M PRETTY SURE I'M GOING!! =D

I was researching a bit on general opinion regarding women changing or not changing their last names at marriage for my WGS paper... and eww. A lot of sexist crap spewed from men AND women about it that made me cringe. (Such as: WHY EVEN BOTHER GETTING MARRIED IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE HIS LAST NAME YOU'RE SUCH A SELFISH WOMAN") BUT one thing I rarely saw brought up was: Why does it always HAVE to be the woman's choice? Why does no one ever think of asking the guy if he'd like to change his last name? Seems like a pretty nasty double standard to me.

So basically, if I were to ever get married, I would only consider taking HB's last name if he also considered taking mine. Seems only fair.

So yesterday marked the two week anniversary of my email to the chair of the English department. I figured that I should celebrate this wonderful occasion with an actual response from her, so I emailed her again. Clearly my first email was eaten by the Internet, since she responded to the second email quite promptly- on the same day in fact! Changing majors is actually really easy and simple. I should have just went to her office earlier because it took literally 2 minutes. So next semester I will have to take Lit 201 and probably a bunch of other English classes to play catch up. JOY JOY!!! (at least i won't have to worry about PIPER anymore. [PIPER=required credits for psych students to participate in experiments and surveys and whatnot])

SPRING BREAK NEXT WEEK!!
So you know how I'm in this a capella group, right? Well tonight we held auditions for new members and it was a DIFFICULT ARDUOUS PROCESS, LET ME TELL YOU. We ended up choosing 2 people out of about 8 and you feel so guilty rejecting people and everyone was at about the same skill level and it was really hard to make a decision. Well, for me. Not as much for everyone else. =P But after being on the other side of the audition process, I can see why I was chosen last semester. No one seems to be able to pick out the "mi" note of a chord and when testing for range their triads go all over the place. I think we chose 2 good people though, so yay.

School is alright, my life is kind of boring, bla bla bla. Been watching Avatar. It's actually a really good show (I was skeptical) and I would have been all over this at age 12. I can see why people of all ages like it because it's kid friendly while not dumbed down for them. Also, I'm thinking of changing my second major. English maybe?? We'll see.

I should be doing homework now. yeah. And I need more icons.

I remember four years ago being really angry at the presidential election results and wishing I could vote. I definitely did not even think of the possibility that I and millions of others would vote for and elect a black man. Just fifty years ago blacks could not even vote. We still need to come a long way but this makes me feel better about my country!! :D

Although in other areas bigotry is still a-ok. EPIC FAIL, ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, AND ESPICALLY ARKANSAS. (seriously, limiting who can ADOPT CHILDREN?? HOW FUCKING RIDICULOUS CAN YOU BE??) I'm not really political at all and usually I can respect other people's views/see the other side, but this is one issue I feel VERY strongly about. To me this is no different than banning interracial marriage. It's WRONG. And if you think gays shouldn't be allowed to marry, YOU'RE WRONG. There's no opinion there. IT'S WRONG.

I called my mom to apologize because now we're going to get twice as many calls from the Red Cross. But really, it's kinda her fault I have this.

Oh yeah, vote.
So yeah, I get a phone call/text/email from the college about 20 minutes ago that there was a SHOOTING on campus near lot 4. One of my friends (who I think is off campus somewhere tonight) texts me saying that she hears there is gang activity targeting women! God damn. Well, its not likely I'll sleep much at all today. (I did plan on waking up at 6 to go home) I hope I'm still able to catch a trip home. :/

EDIT: lol there was a shooting but my friend was kinda freaking out for no reason. yeah.
